Veterinarians

Richard Joiner, DVM graduated from Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974.  He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine and published an article on Surgical Removal of a Meningocele.  He then moved to Phoenix where he worked for West Plaza Animal Hospital and Phoenix Dog and Cat Animal Hospital.  Dr. Joiner started a mobile practice in 1977 which transitioned into Ambassador Animal Hospital PC in 1981.  He is interested in all types of animals and all areas of veterinary medicine.  His family includes his wife Jean, two grown sons Jonathan (Christiana), David (Yulee), a grandson Jon Jr., two dogs Shadow and Buddy, and the hospital cat, Chancy.

Hospital Management

Edith Tice, CVT joined the staff  at Ambassador Animal Hospital in 1991 as a receptionist.  In 1995 she received her certification as a veterinary technician and then later took over the roll of office manager.  Edith feels very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work at the same location for 20+ years in a family owned business where many of the other employees have been long term also.  One of her favorite parts of the job has been working with some pets from their first puppy or kitten visit all the way through their senior years.  She lives with her husband Chuck, their Labrador Gus, cat Sylvester, and African Grey Sammy.  She has 3 grown daughters, (their spouses), and four grandchildren.

Support Staff

Lori Grissom joined the Ambassador Animal Hospital team in November of 1988 as a night Emergency Technician. She eventually was promoted to Hospital Coordinator.  A year after the birth of her first child, she went on a 15 year maternity leave.  During that time she had three more children.  She returned in August 2008 as a technician/receptionist.  Lori lives with her husband, three of her four children, two dogs (Allie Bama and Joey), and a cat (Oreo).  During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and is anxiously waiting for the arrival of her first grandchild.

Pat O. joined Ambassador Animal Hospital in the year 2000. Pat loves working with people as a receptionist. In 2002 she started working at Maricopa Integrated Health System as a Phlebotomist. She now runs the Outreach Phlebotomy program but still enjoys working at Ambassador during her extra time. Over the last 13 years she has enjoyed meeting so many different people and loves getting to know them and their pets. Pat loves her Jack Russell Terrier, Sparky, and he joins her every Saturday at Ambassador. Pat always keeps busy with her two grand kids, two sons, and daughter-in-law.

Testimonials

Read What Our Clients Say

  • "We have three dogs that are under the care of Ambassador Animal Hospital. The staff are very attentive, take great care of our pets, show incredible compassion and love for animals, and are very prompt in responding to our needs. Most recently we had to put one of dogs down, and while this was incredibly difficult for me, the staff took such good care of both my dog and ME! They're very special people and your pets will be in good hands with Dr. Joiner!"
